In The Day of the Jackal (1973), the Jackal also drives a white Alfa Romeo, albeit an earlier-generation model. This would have been a great cat-and-mouse chase if the female lead had been anyone else, literally anyone else. The way she portrays the detective makes the viewer, at least this one, not want to root for her.
I don’t like her and I don’t care
She comes across as a polite, cold, know-it-all, selfish woman. Yes, she’s in the police and what she does is good, but the way she does it is horrible! For that reason, I think many of us watching the show will root for the Jackal.
And I know I’m not the only one
He’s everything she’s not, even though he’s a killer. I don’t want her to succeed in her mission and I don’t want the Jackal to get caught. I don’t think it should be that way, but that’s how I feel.
On the surface, she’s getting close to him
Unfortunately, if she succeeds, it’ll make me want to stop watching this show. And that’s too bad, because he’s great at that!
