Alana Higman, a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan, and her family compete to win the team’s Fan of the Year contest, in a process judged by director of fan engagement Derrick.. The locations that served as the Higman family store and Norma and Nick’s BBQ restaurant are both real-life family-run businesses.
Okay, wrong sports reference
The Square even does holiday lighting like the one in the movie.. I have to give the writers and producers some credit here, as they tried something very different in a Christmas movie story, even if Christmas just involved wearing a Chiefs’ Sleigh anytime the team has a game on Christmas Day. Maybe I should say they hit a deep shot and only got a pass interference, but not a bomb.
He has a unique style that we enjoy
Hunter King and Tyler Hynes had decent chemistry here and we’ve liked Tyler in some of these movies. However, some things in this movie took us out of the story, like a mother and grandmother practically throwing Hunter into a stranger’s lap the second he walked in the door. Then, the whole cliché about how angry Hunter was over “not believing in the hat” was ridiculous, especially when that was the best the writers could come up with to inject some tension into the love story.
managed an emotional performance
Most of the “best fans” story worked and Ed Begley, Jr. Parkinson’s made him look 15 years older than he should be at 75, which is a shame, but not his fault. Some of this year’s movies have featured an annoying minor character who overacts in an embarrassing way, and this movie is one of them.
Thankfully she only appeared once more, and briefly
The owner of the deli almost had me take this movie in the first five minutes. We’re not sorry we saw it, despite some plot issues, but we won’t be returning for a repeat.
