Riot was so impressed with the work that they asked Fortiche to make an animated series, which took them several years to create. After the release of season one, Riot announced that there would be a second season and that it would take less time to produce.. Performed by Imagine Dragons ft. Arcane tells the story of two young orphaned sisters who grew up and struggled in the twin cities of Zaun and Piltover. The series is based on the video game League of Legends, and while it drops you straight into this fictional world, the time and care necessary is taken to set up the locations and characters in a commendable show-stopping way. The solid character development and world-building means that it’s a thoroughly enjoyable watch, even without knowing anything about the game.
The animation is downright exquisite
As an anime fan, I found the animation in Arcane to be more than anything I’ve ever seen from an animated series. There’s incredible attention to detail. It’s clear that no artistic talent or monetary expense was spared in bringing the world of Runeterra to life. A great soundtrack, great acting, and a compelling story that pulls no punches when it comes to violence and more so, adult.
So far, only the first three episodes have been released and I can’t wait to see what else is in store for us!
